Fearless

resource type: info

FEAR.  Every day seems to bring something new to fear.  Do you fear impending layoffs, the economic meltdown, plunging home values, global warming, terrorism and swine flu?  Maybe you are afraid of being sued, finishing last, going broke, the mole on your back, the new kid on the block, or the sound of the clock as it ticks closer to the grave.  Fear touches every human being.

What would it be like to not be afraid? Jesus tells us that it is possible to live by faith, not in fear.  Over and over again, the Bible tells us “Do not be afraid.”  Would you consider Jesus’ invitation to live a life marked by courage?

We hope enjoy these messages from the Fall of 2009 at Beacon Church when we studied God's word, finding peace and strength in facing our fears.  Don’t just survive...truly live.

One Prayer

resource type: info

Beacon is excited to be participating in the One Prayer series.  This is the second year of this joint project where Beacon is partnering with more than 1,600 churches as we unite in action as we share resources, serve our communities, and give to a meaningful cause.   When The Church stands together we make a lasting difference in our world.

Throughout this series, Beacon will hear from other teachers and pastors througout the country as they contribute teaching with the topic of "God Is...."  These messages are available here on this website, but they are not the property of Beacon Church but instead belong to the One Prayer team and to the individual teachers.  We hope you enjoy the 2009 version of One Prayer.

Standing Against the Wind

resource type: info

The New Year is here and with it comes a sense of optimism and hope, but this year feels a little bit different, doesn't it? Things seem to be more uncertain than ever as we all are bracing ourselves to stand strong against the winds of adversity that are swirling around us. The good news is that God is with us. We do not have to stand on our own strength but instead we lean on Him and on His Word to guide us through these interesting times. Join us for a worship gathering throughout January and February as we study the Bible and specifically focus on the book of Psalms, looking to His truth to teach us how we can Stand Against the Wind and emerge stronger than ever before.

The Prodigal God

resource type: info

In the Fall of 2009, Beacon's pastors taught a series of messages called  The Prodigal God.  This series is based on a book by the same title from Christian teacher and author Tim Keller, whom Newsweek magazine calls “a C. S. Lewis for the twenty-first century.”  In The Prodigal God, Keller uses one of the best-known stories from the Bible to reveal an unexpected message of hope. Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This series and book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.
